Nebulous Black Glass Murrine Bowls

A sculptural kiln-fused glass bowl defined by contrast, depth, and a quiet celestial rhythm.

Each piece is composed of hundreds of individually hand-pulled and cut vitrigraph murrine elements in black and clear glass, carefully arranged into a cell-like form. Layer by layer, the design is meticulously composed before being kiln-fused into a single seamless vessel, then sandblasted and treated to create a soft, matte finish with an unexpectedly tactile surface.

The interplay of opaque black and translucent clear glass gives each bowl a shifting, atmospheric quality—subtle variations in pattern and tone ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

Handmade in my North Yorkshire studio using Bullseye Glass.
