Plagiomnium rostratum 400x - 'From the Earth' exhibition collection

A contemporary murrine fused glass bowl inspired by the microscopic structure of moss cells. The repeating patterns, internal structures and cell membranes of Plagiomnium rostratum inform the murrine designs within the glass.

Hundreds of individually hand-pulled and cut vitrigraph murrine elements are carefully created and arranged before being kiln-fused into the final form. The surface is sandblasted to a soft matte finish and each piece is cold-worked and hand-finished.

Handmade in my North Yorkshire studio using Bullseye Glass, this is an individual piece of contemporary glass art that translates microscopic natural structures into a sculptural glass form.

Dimensions:

27.5W x 4.5H CM
